Jack be nimble…and by Jack I mean your business!

Image result for flexible   Everything has changed! A week from now…everything will change! A month from now, forget what you know because the game is changing! I could go on and on but I think you see where I’m headed with this. We are all scurrying around and trying to constantly navigate the latest and greatest business trends, marketing approaches and brand strategies in an attempt to crush our competition like cockroaches! The problem is that somebody is that most of us wait until somebody else is doing it, then we wait to see who else is doing it and then we try to convince ourselves why we don’t need to do it and finally we end up eventually asking ourselves why the hell didn’t we do that? And you call yourself an entrepreneuer?

The whole point to being an entrepreneur is the freedom, the independence, the possibilities, creating wealth and owning your time right? So how do you plan on doing that? The same way everyone else does it? The same way you’ve always done it? The same way it’s always been done? If you could only see my face right now you’d tell me to calm down…and take a breath! Things NEVER work the same way as they did yesterday! Truth be told, if you are focused on how things are working today, you’re already behind! More and more larger sized companies are relying on outsourcing and even buying smaller to medium sized businesses (SMB’s) due to the fact that they can move quickly, adapt to an ever changing market and they are bound up by long sales cycles due to a lethargic vertical management decision making process and a myriad of other reasons.

With all of this being said, it’s never been more important than it is now in business to follow the trends. To pay attention to things like lifestyle branding and influencer marketing. Here’s a hint, if you don’t know what these are…well, you can probably finish my sentence for me at this point. Are you using live video streaming platforms like Facebook Live? Did you know that 80% of brand consumers said they would rather watch a live video than read a blog? Oh, crap! Why am I writing this blog? It’s because people like you still don’t get it! Knock, Knock..Hello! Another powerful statistic is that 82% of brand consumers prefer live video to social posts! So stop hiding behind your computer and get in front of the camera and start getting with the program!

I’m not trying to convince you to start using Facebook live that’s just the tangent I got stuck on for a bit. My point is that you have to pay attention to all the “Facebook Live” trends and platforms that are out there now as well as those that are coming in all aspects of your business. I recently worked with a couple of talented young ladies that are up and coming Architects in Melbourne, Australia and they were dead set on naming their business something with a Corp. or an Inc. after it because that’s what all the “large firms” in the industry have done. I responded with a swift “That’s why they are all retiring or their kids are taking over or they are hiring people like me to change their entire business model because what they used to do isn’t working anymore! You can’t build a business on years of years of shaking hands and kissing babies anymore. If you fail to adapt and focus on what worked in the past then you will not only fall behind, you WILL fail. If you focus on being the Muhammed Ali of your industry…float like a butterfly, sting like a bee then you are sure to be a force to reckon with no matter what the industry!
